Brevard Zoo Frequently Asked Questions

Approximately how long does it take to experience Brevard Zoo?
We consider the Zoo to be a half-day experience. Plan for a minimum of one hour to see all of the exhibits and at least an hour to experience our new Paws On children's play area. Then based on activities and animal demonstrations, you may find you stay for up to four hours.

Is the Zoo handicap accessible?
Yes

Do you have wheelchairs/strollers for rent?
Yes. Rates are:
Wheelchair and Stroller Rentals:
Wheelchair - $6
Single Stroller - $6
Double Stroller - $8
Electric Conveyance Vehicle - $20
(These prices do not include tax.)

What does the Zoo experience consist of?
We have 550 animals representing 165 species from Florida, Central and South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia. You can hand feed giraffe and colorful parrots, go kayaking (we are the only zoo in the country where you can kayak around an animal exhibit), ride the train, and with our new Paws On exhibit, you can splash around in a water play area, watch animals move about in our 20,000 gallon aquarium, touch animals in our petting zone, build animal homes in our fort building area, and enjoy an indoor, air-conditioned play area too.

Are coolers allowed inside the Zoo?
Small coolers are allowed.

Is smoking allowed at the Zoo?

No, but we offer designated smoking areas just outside the gates on Zoo grounds.

Are pets allowed inside the Zoo?
Pets are not allowed inside the Zoo (service animal owners must check in with Zoo administration office.)

Is there a place to eat while I visit Brevard Zoo?
The Flamingo Café and Whale's Tail offers a large selection of food, snacks, and drinks. The Zoo also serves Dippin’ Dots ice cream. The Flamingo Café and Whale's Tail are open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but times may change. Please note that the Zoo does not permit patrons to bring alcohol on Zoo grounds.
