Do you serve food and beverages on the boat?
Guests may purchase beverages including water, soda, wine, and beer onboard. Please note, no outside alcoholic beverages are permitted on the boat. Food is not sold on the boat. However, passengers are welcome to bring their own snacks or brown-bag meal aboard.
Does the cruise go through the Chicago River Lock?
Yes. The Urban Adventure Cruise passes through the Chicago River Lock system as the guide provides a full narration about the operation of the lock.
Do tours still depart when raining?
Yes, tours depart rain or shine. Open and covered seating is available on board.
Are restrooms available onboard the boat?
Yes.
What safety measures are taken onboard?
All vessels are inspected and certified by the United States Coast Guard, the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago each year. Also, the crew is licensed by the USCG and undergoes an extensive training program. The boat carries 100% Adult and 100% Child life preservers, but you will only need them in the unlikely event of an emergency.
May I bring my luggage on the boat?
No. Luggage is not allowed aboard the Mercury vessels.
May I bring a stroller aboard?
Yes, strollers may be brought aboard and will be folded and stored in the salon for the duration of the cruise. They are not allowed on the deck. Please note, children must be removed from strollers prior to boarding.
When should I arrive?
Boarding begins 15-30 minutes before departure. Please arrive during this time frame to get the best seats!
Where is the closest parking?
Laz Parking Garage at 111 E. Wacker Drive. is just one driveway east of Michigan Avenue, next to the Fannie May candy store. Look for the blue awning across the street marking the entrance to Riverside Gardens and Chicago’s Riverwalk at the southeast corner of the Michigan Avenue Bridge.
Discount rates available for Mercury customers: $14 for 1-3 hours or $15 for 3-4 hours of parking. Simply have your parking ticket stamped at the Mercury Box Office to receive the discount.
Are the vessels wheelchair accessible?
For safety reasons, motorized scooters and electric wheelchairs cannot be accommodated aboard the ship. Guests who are able to transfer may use the company's manual wheelchair, based on availability. Under Federal law and due to special marine safety construction guidelines, USCG-regulated small vessels are not subject to land-based architectural configuration requirements.
