Do not take a TAXI, UBER or LYFT to Laura Plantation unless you have pre-arranged for the driver to stay in the parking lot and to return you to the city after your tour is complete. The slave cabin is 3 steps up/down. There are no elevators or ramps. If a guest can manage the stairs and have their companions carry their wheelchair or walker up the stairs that is feasible. Laura Plantation does not provide wheelchairs. The gift shop and restroom buildings are accessible by wheelchair and ramps. Pathways are either bricked or graveled.
Can I leave and re-enter on the same day?
No, you may not leave and re-enter on the same day.
Can I bring my camera?
Yes, still photography for personal use is allowed during the tour. All photographs must be taken during the tour and guests are not allowed to go back onto the property for any photos. How long is the tour?
Approximately 75-80 minutes long.
What’s included in my ticket/experience?
Go beyond the myths of the American South at Laura Plantation, where intimate, firsthand accounts explore the lives of four generations of one Louisiana Creole family, both free and enslaved. Laura’s new, permanent exhibit examines in biographical detail the lives of Africans on the plantation, from enslavement into the 20th century.
Can I bring my own food/beverages?
Bottled drinks are permitted on the tour as long as the bottle cap remains screwed tight inside of the house and slave quarters. Other food, gum and drinks in open cups or cups with lids/straws are PROHIBITED. During summer months we recommend bringing bottled water and a fan with you.
Can I bring my pet?
Small pets may accompany the tour as long as they are carried in small carrying bag or if they are in a pet stroller. With the exception of service animals, no pets shall be allowed to walk on the tour by leash. Any animal that barks or makes noises that distracts the tour will be asked to leave immediately. If another customer has a severe animal allergy we will ask that you wait until the next tour. If you have a larger animal, we urge extreme caution if you leave your pet in a vehicle or RV. This is NOT recommended in South Louisiana heat.
What safety precautions are in place for the activity (if any)?
For the protection of our historic house, museum site and our collections, handbags and backpacks should not exceed 11 x 14 x 5 inches (28 cm x 36 cm x 8 cm). This includes camera bags, diaper bags, etc. Tripods and Selfie sticks are PROHIBITED. Larger bags and motorcycle helmets may be checked in at the front desk. Ask for a claim ticket.
Laura is open daily from 9:30am - 4:00 pm except for major holidays. The first tour of the day begins at 10am with tours beginning approximately every 40 minutes thereafter until the last tour of the day at 4:00pm.

Captain Cook Dinner Cruise - ID 2321
Are kids permitted on the cruise?
Absolutely! Children under the age of 5 ride for FREE!
What are we served for dinner?
Guests can enjoy a Hawaiian-style buffet and a complimentary cocktail.
Please note: all Gluten Free, Vegan, and Vegetarian meal requests must be called into the office with 48 hours notice. Kosher may require 72 hours notice. We do understand that sometimes you cannot let us know within 48 hours notice; in those cases, call us first before ensuring guests that a special meal option is available. We will always do our best to accommodate last minute requests but it's dependent on what our kitchen team can do with less than 48 hours notice.
Where does the cruise depart from?
We are located on the Big Island of Hawaii and depart from the Kailua Pier in the heart of Kailua-Kona side approximately seven miles south of Keahole Kona Airport.
What time should we arrive?
Boarding is always 30 minutes before departure. We depart on time and cannot hold the vessel for late arrivals.
Can you accommodate wheelchairs?
We are 100% wheel chair accessible on our vessel's lower deck. The catamarans include a customized boarding ramp with portable extensions to accommodate all wheelchairs including manual, electric and scooters. We require notification by phone when guests are traveling with a wheelchair in order to offer our pier parking, as we have only two spaces. If there's space we will note that the guest is using the space and will request that they call the office at boarding time for pier access. The guest will wait at the gate for a crew member to let them onto the pier. They must be traveling with a handicap placard in order to take advantage pier parking. When there's a cruise ship in port we do not have pier parking available.
Will I get sea sick?
The bigger the boat, the more stable it is. Our vessel is 65′ in length with a 30′ beam and the largest boat of our kind on the Kona Coast. It’s a totally different experience than being on a smaller boat or a raft. If you know you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you take Bonine or Dramamine the night before and another one several hours before your cruise. Please read the directions to see that you are able to take this medication. We carry this on board, however, it is best to have it in your system prior to boarding. You are more likely to feel better on the lower deck of the vessel as there is less pitch. We also offer complimentary Ginger pills and a Ginger drink which is great for motion sickness and it’s all natural.
What should I bring with me?
We recommend that our passengers bring a light jacket and comfortable, flat shoes.
Will we see whales?
The best opportunity to see whales is between late December and late March when the Humpback Whales migrate to Hawaii from the north Pacific.
Will we see dolphins?
There is a 98% chance of seeing dolphins all year round from our boat as they enjoy riding our wake.
Is free parking available?
We have free parking located about one block east of the pier at the Illima Court Shopping Center:
75-5629 Kuakini Hwy, Kailua Kona, HI 96740.
It's about a 5 minute walk to the pier where we depart. You may also park at the Hotel King Kamehameha for an hourly fee. If you require handicapped parking there are two stalls located in the cul-de-sac in front of the Kailua Pier but come early as they are used frequently.
Absolutely! Children under the age of 5 ride for FREE!

We specialize in accommodating those who are new to snorkeling and non-swimmers. We offer "Snorkeling 101" for beginners or those wanting a refresher course. Can I bring my own mask and gear?
While we encourage our guests to bring their own mask, fins, and snorkels, we DO NOT allow the use of full-face masks on our excursions aboard the vessel. During snorkeling activity, the need for more oxygen requires us to breathe faster. With a full-face mask, some of the exhaled carbon dioxide may not fully exit the device, and it is possible to breathe in the contaminated air that has the potential to lead to unconsciousness and fatalities.
Do you offer SNUBA?
No, we do not offer SNUBA or Power-diving.
Do you offer SCUBA?

The lower deck of our 65-foot catamaran is fully accessible from bow to stern including tables and restrooms. For those that just want to go along for the ride and not participate in snorkeling, special "ride-along" rates are available.
I have special dietary needs, can you accommodate me?
All Gluten Free, Vegan, and Vegetarian meal requests must be called into the office with 48 hours notice. We do understand that sometimes you cannot let us know within 48 hours notice; in those cases, call us first before ensuring guests that a special meal option is available. If you are joining us for our Historical Dinner Cruise, we recommend a lightweight jacket and comfortable flat shoes. We accept all major credit cards.
Should I bring sunscreen?
No, unless you have medical reasons to use a specific brand. Body Glove Cruises is the first boat in the state of Hawaii to offer a "Reef Safe" sunscreen that does not harm the coral reef and stays on your skin and not in our ocean. We have several SPF pump stations onboard for complimentary use.
Can we go ashore during our cruise?
No, in order to protect the sensitive coral reefs, marine shoreline and the safety of our guests, no one is allowed to climb onto land. Our vessel will act as your private island allowing you to come and go as you please while you enjoy your day at sea.
