Is Anakeesta wheelchair accessible?
Yes, several areas of Anakeesta are wheelchair accessible. The Gondola cabins size is 32″ wide and 49″ deep for your ride to the summit of Anakeesta. The Firefly Village’s shops, dining pavilion, and viewing platforms are also wheelchair accessible.
Is the Chondola the only way to get to Anakeesta?
Yes. Guests can choose to ride in an open air 4-person chair with a safety bar or select an enclosed gondola cabin with seating for 6. This scenic ride takes passengers up 600’ to the summit of Anakeesta Mountain.
What should I wear?
It is recommended that guests wear comfortable outdoor attire and shoes. Those who wish to go ziplining must wear closed-toe shoes and be able to pull/tie back long hair.
Are pets allowed?
No. Only service animals may accompany guests.
Is Anakeesta open in the rain?
East Tennessee is subject to many different types of weather conditions. Anakeesta is an outdoor theme park and many of the rides and activities are designed to operate safely in a variety of weather conditions including rain, snow and light winds. Weather conditions are monitored at all times and for the safety of our guests and staff. With this in mind, staff may choose to suspend operations during periods of inclement weather.
Is parking available?
Yes. On-site paid “Premier Public” city parking allows Anakeesta guests to park before embarking on the Chondola ride to the summit of Anakeesta Mountain. Visitors can also find nearby parking at two City parking garages, one across the street at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies and the other at Traffic Light #3, the McMahan Parking Garage.
Are there restrictions for ziplining?
Yes. The restrictions are as follows:
- Participants must be at least 7 years old AND 70 lbs. to participate.
- All guests under 12 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18.
- Participants must weigh between 70 lbs. and 270 lbs.
- Everyone must wear closed-toed shoes. No Chacos, Crocs or Five-Finger shoes will be permitted.
- Guests must be in good health and able to stand for 45 minutes.
Visitors cannot participate in zip lining if:
- You are pregnant.
- You suffer from medical conditions that require immediate attention.
- You have existing or recurring injuries or have recently had major knee, back, or leg surgeries.
- You are under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or anything else that impairs judgment.
- You have any known mental or physical handicaps or disorders that would not enable you to complete the mental and physical tasks that happen throughout the course.
What should I bring for ziplining?
- Appropriate attire and closed-toe shoes.
- Bring cameras, GoPro’s, and phones at your own risk. We highly recommend having straps or secure pockets.
- Glasses and sunglasses can be worn. If you plan on taking them off we recommend having a strap.
- Necessary medication such as inhalers, nitroglycerine pills, or epi-pens.
- We recommend hair ties for long hair.
The following items are not allowed on the ziplines:
- Dangling jewelry including long necklaces and hoop earrings are not allowed.
- Unsecured items (phones, keys, water bottles, etc) that can fall out while ziplining. This is for the safety of those working or traveling under our zip lines and platforms.
- Short shorts, dresses, skirts, swimsuits, and baggy clothes are not recommended.
- Backpacks or fanny packs are not recommended unless for medication.
Does the Rail Runner have restrictions?
Yes, the following restrictions are in place for the Rail Runner for single riders:
- Maximum weight: 270 lbs.
- Riders under the age of 7 may not ride alone.
- Must be at least 48" tall.
Tandem riders are subject to the following restrictions:
- Combined weight cannot exceed 270 lbs.
- Passengers ages 3 to 7 years old must be a minimum of 37" tall.
- Passengers cannot be taller than the driver's shoulders.
- Driver is fully responsible for passenger in front when riding tandem and must be able to control braking lever at all times.
Visitors cannot ride the Rail Runner if:
- You are pregnant.
- You suffer from medical conditions that require immediate attention.
- You have existing or recurring injuries or have recently had major knee, back, or leg surgeries.
- You are under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or anything else that impairs judgment.

What should I bring for the Rail Runner?
It is recommended that visitors wear comfortable clothing (dresses, skirts, and swimsuits are not allowed) and bring GoPros, cameras, and phones at their own risk. Anakeesta is not responsible for lost items. Glasses and sunglasses may be worn.
Selfie sticks, dangling jewelry, backpacks, fanny packs, and unsecured items are not allowed on the Rail Runner.
When does Anakeesta open?
The park opens daily at 10:00 am.
