Halloween Horror Nights is a separately ticketed, nighttime event at Universal Studios Hollywood. On select nights from September to November, Universal Studios Hollywood is transformed into L.A.'s most terrifying Halloween experience, filled with walk-through maze attractions, intense scare zones, a mind-blowing live show, and high-octane rides and attractions.

Event occurs rain or shine. No refunds will be given.

What is new at Halloween Horror Nights this year?
Experience more mazes than ever with 10 terrifying mazes including Stranger Things, Ghostbusters, Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Holidays in Hell and AMC’S The Walking Dead Attraction, and more to be announced soon. There are 5 new scare zones awaiting you around every dark corner. Plus, there’s an all-new live show featuring the high-energy theatrics of Jabbawockeez.
What is ‘80s Throwback Thursdays and do I need to purchase a separate ticket?
On Thursday nights only, we’re throwing it back to the ‘80s. Guests are invited to rock their best ‘80s looks and bounce or moonwalk to a live band and DJ dance parties! All themed outfits are subject to Universal Studios Hollywood’s final approval. ‘80s Throwback Thursdays are included in Halloween Horror Nights ticket purchased for 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24 and 10/31.
What are the rules and guidelines?
These rules and guidelines are subject to change without notice:
- Plan ahead with the HHN Park Map.
- No Costumes, Masks, or Face Paint Food, drinks, bottles, recording/flash photography, flashlights or laser pens are not permitted in the Mazes.
- If you mistreat the "scareactors" you will be sent home.
- Avoid line jumping, use of foul language, and inappropriate behavior.
- The event occurs rain or shine (umbrellas allowed).
These rules and guidelines are subject to change without notice:
- Costumes, masks and/or face paint are not permitted at the event. However, Guests are encouraged to rock their best ‘80s retro and horror-inspired looks at ‘80s Throwback Thursdays.
- All themed outfits are subject to Universal Studios Hollywood’s final approval. Please see the following guidelines: No masks, facial coverings, fully painted faces, veils, long trains, live animals (with the exception of service animals), full-body costumes or outfits are permitted.
- No weapons of any kind are permitted. Any item that resembles a weapon or is manufactured in the shape of a weapon will not be permitted.
- Guests must be fully clothed at all times (e.g., shirts, pants/shorts, and shoes must be worn at all times).
- Themed outfits must not contain any offensive material (e.g., language, gore, intimate content).
- Themed outfits cannot exceed 25 inches wide x 80 inches high to meet Universal Studio Hollywood’s metal detection regulations. Outfits are subject to secondary x-ray screenings. Universal Studios Hollywood will have sole discretion to decide whether an item is permissible. Guests with any item deemed inappropriate may be refused entry into the event unless the outfit is modified to meet the guidelines.
- If a guest is spotted in a themed outfit that is not deemed permissible, he or she will be asked to either remove the outfit and change into something more appropriate or exit the park.
- Guests in themed outfits may not give the impression that they are Universal Studios Hollywood Team Members.
- To ensure Guests’ safety, some themed outfits may not be permitted on certain attractions. Guests enter or exit the Park, they may walk through CityWalk in their themed outfit with no masks or facial coverings, but not enter or linger in that area in their outfit.
- Universal Studios Hollywood’s staff reserve the right to request that a Guest remove any type of facial covering for identification purposes.
There is no age minimum for the event. However, this event is recommended for mature audiences only and not recommended for children under 13. They will be exposed to extremely adult material. There are no refunds for this event.
Can I leave the event and come back later in the evening?
Sorry, re-entries are not permitted.
Are there any restrictions to going through the mazes?
Mazes contain loud sounds, sudden movements, and effects which may be too intense for children. Parental discretion advised. Persons with the following conditions should not experience mazes:
- Heart Conditions or Abnormal Blood Pressure.
- Expectant Mothers.
- Medical Sensitivity to Strobe Effects.
- Medical Sensitivity to Fog Effects.
- Fear of Enclosed Spaces.
